They are extraordinary because they were once women of very humble nature, and with great futures ahead in benefiting humanity with peaceful endeavors. However, unthinkable evil, both from without and within, forced them to arms in a hell of unprecedented proportions in human history. Faced with Hitler's desolating hordes as they invaded and mercilessly raped and murdered all in their path, and the terrors of Joseph Stalin who plunged his own citizens into oppression and terror of his own, they would be the ones to have the bloodiest battle in history. Their victory would not bring them prosperity and freedom, but it would be the single largest factor in annihilating Nazi Germany, and, strangely enough, in many ways laying the groundwork for the future dissolution of Soviet Rule. They would not be the only women to arise in the face of soul mutilating manipulation and terror. Unknown Heroines in the French 'Maquis', Free-French, German Resistance, Japanese Underground, among many others, rose to the call of history. Their wish? That we would never again allow our world to see such suffering and bloodshed, and instead promote the peace they gave everything to bring us. In 2010, History's Real Heroines will be heard.
